Who Relies on You? A Simple Place to Start Protecting Them
Protection planning doesn't start with a policy. It starts with the people in your life and the part you play in theirs.

Most of us never sit down and list the people who count on us. We just show up for them — with our time, our income, our care, and the lessons we pass along. Thinking about protection starts by making that picture visible.
Start with names, not numbers
Write down who would feel it, financially and otherwise, if you were no longer here. A spouse or partner. Children. A parent you help support. A sibling, niece, or nephew you look out for. This list is the real reason any plan matters.
Notice the part you play
For each person, consider what you provide today. It may be income, childcare, help with a household's bills, or simply being the one who knows how everything works. Some of these roles have a cost to replace; others are about guidance and knowledge.
Look at what is already in place
Many people have some coverage through work, a personal policy, or savings. It's worth knowing how much you have, who your beneficiaries are, and whether that protection would stay with you if your situation changed.
Questions to talk through with your family
- Who depends on us today, and who might in the years ahead?
- What would they need to keep their daily life steady?
- What do we want the next generation to start with that we didn't have?
- Who in our family should know where our important information is kept?
Each one, teach one
Having these conversations openly is part of the protection. When the people you love understand the plan — and why it matters — they are better prepared to carry that standard forward to the people who come after them.
